As it turns out, his secret pen pal is actually new clerk Amalia Balash (Ashlyn Gibbs). By day, these two bickering clerks can’t stand each other – but by night, unbeknownst to each other, they’re falling in love. Select Nights in February.

Cracker Village Tour – Silver River Museum | Silver Springs State Park | Feb 9

Come and discover what life was like at the turn of the century in the Florida “piney woods.” The cracker homestead is a replica of a 19th century pioneer settlement. This collection of buildings represents a small “Cracker” settlement dating to the 1890s. A typical homestead of the time would have included a cabin and outbuildings such as a barn, pantry, smokehouse, and outhouse. Schoolhouses, churches, and blacksmith shops would have been found in settlements that homesteaders visited to attend social gatherings and barter for supplies. During the tour, these buildings will be open for viewing and on most tours the blacksmith’s forge will be fired up. Meet at the Cracker Village across from the Silver River museum.

Join a park ranger for information about the gardens’ history, learn about the different seasonal flowers and blooms, as well as about pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies. The tour passes through the following gardens: Courtyard Garden, Crossroads Garden, Camellia Garden, Fire & Water Garden, and the tour ends at the Wildflower Garden. After the tour, visitors are free to continue exploring the garden pathways and trails or walk back along the river.

Southeastern Youth Fair | Southeastern Livestock Pavillon | Feb 15 – 23

Since 1941, when the fair began with a steer show, it has involved generations of Marion County residents who have shown steers, heifers, hogs, horses, lambs, goats, rabbits, chickens and dogs. It also features 4-H and FFA members who have created artworks and home art projects, demonstrated their tractor driving ability, and cooked up some delicious barbecue. The fair runs February 15 – 23rd, with different events each day. See the full schedule. 

Galentines Macrame Workshop | Marley Mae Market and Paperie & Nursery Room | Feb 15

Grab your besties and get ready for Nursery Road’s Galentines Macrame Workshop hosted at Marley Mae Market and Paperie! During this two hour class, you will learn basic macrame knots and techniques and use your new-found skills to create your very own macrame hanging planter. No tools are required for attendance, just bring yourself! Your class fee will cover all of your materials and instruction. There will also be time to shop at Marley Mae! Light snacks and refreshments will also be provided. A living or artificial plant is not included in this class to fill your planter.

The ninth annual Silver River Knap-in February 16-17 features a prehistoric arts festival and stone tool making. Held at the Silver River Museum and Environmental Education Center, you can check out bow and arrow making, tomahawk and spear throwing, pottery making, Indian artifact displays and more. There’s something for everyone, and it’s all included with park admission of $5 per person.

Pints and Predators | First Magnitude Brewing Co. | Feb 16

Join Wild Birds Unlimited and First Magnitude Brewing Co. as we host the fifth annual Pints and Predators educational festival and fundraiser for local wildlife rehabilitators featuring live birds of prey and creatures of the night. Suggested donations will be collected at the door. ALL donations benefit Sunrise Wildlife Rehabilitation, Florida Wildlife Care, Lubee Bat Conservancy, Florida Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, and Wing and a Prayer Bird Conservation.
