First Friday Art Walk | 6 PM-9 PM | Downtown Ocala
Every year, the First Friday Art Walk occurs from 6 PM-9 PM on the first Friday of every month from September until May. Located within Ocala’s historic downtown, event festivities include over 40 artist’s displays, acoustic entertainment, free family art activities and extended shopping hours.
First Impressions Art Exhibit | 5 PM- 9 PM | Brick City Center For the Arts
Local artist Jordan Shapot will be showcasing his work inspired by Native American identity in a solo exhibit at Brick City Center for the Arts, and the opening reception on January 5th 5-6PM. It is sure to be inspiring, complete with food, Live music and cultural demonstrations. . The exhibit runs through the January 31th.
WIND FM’s Classic Rock Revival | 7:30 PM | Reilly Arts Center
A night of live classic rock favorites, featuring a Santana Tribute by Supernatural and The Doobie Brothers Tribute by China Grove.
Sport Horse Sales | Florida Horse Park
The Florida Horse Park will be hosting an inaugural sale that will showcase horses of all breeds, disciplines, and ages. Both professional and amateur equestrians are invited to showcase their horses for sale over a variety of show jumps and cross country jumps.
Mysteries of the Amazon: Musical Performance by Tribe of Love | 5 PM-8 PM | Appleton Museum of Art
As a complement to Appleton Museum of Art’s “Mysteries of the Amazon” exhibit, there will be a live musical performance by Tribe of love at the Museum. “Mysteries of the Amazon” features the work of Peruvian artist Paul Amaringo, and explores themes of shamanism and spiritual journeying.
I Love a Piano | 8 PM | Ocala Civic Theatre
The premiere of “I Love a Piano,” an Irving Berlin revue told through the life of a piano down several generations. The show features over 60 Berlin classics such as “No Business Like Show Business,” “Puttin on the Ritz,” “White Christmas,” and “God Bless America.” Audiences can catch the performance through February 4th.
Six Guitars | 8 PM | Reilly Arts Center
It’s actually just one man, Chase Padgett, and his one guitar, but throughout “Six Guitars,” he becomes six very different players, each with their own unique voice and musical style. One moment a teenage rock star, the next an aged blues man, Padgett takes audiences on an unforgettable musical journey.
South Florida Reining Horse Association | 6 PM | Florida Horse Park
On the 14th and 15th, the Florida Horse Park will be hosting the South Florida Reining Horse Association’s Tango Slide, a showcase of reining skill and sport.
Extreme Cowboy Race and Obstacle Challenge | 8:30 AM | Florida Horse Park
These back-to-back exciting events consist of obstacles such as water crossings, side-passes, bridges, jumps, and many more. The Extreme Cowboy Race begins at 8:30 AM on the 13th, followed by the Obstacle Challenge the next day at 9:30 AM. Don’t miss this unique display of rugged horsemanship! Hosted by Southern Obstacle Challenge Association.

At the Winter Equestrian Festival, Orlando Dressage starts their show season at “Under the Oaks” located in Weirsdale at The Grand Oaks Show venue.

The Marion Cultural Alliance is hosting Randy Cohen, the Vice President of Research and Policy for Americans for the Arts. Mr. Cohen will be releasing Ocala’s arts economic impact from the Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 national study.

Raymond Chobaz will be offering a repertoire of musical selections inspired by Switzerland. Guest soloist Yefim Romanov will play Tchaikovsky’s captivating Violin Concerto in D Major. Concerts are 7:30 PM January 20th and 3 PM January 21th at the Reilly Arts Center.
Pickin’ In the Park | 1 PM | Silver Springs State Park

OBS 2018 Winter Mixed Sale | 10:30 AM | January 24th – 25th | Ocala Breeder Sales
A total of 254 horses are cataloged for the Preferred Session, scheduled to begin Wednesday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by 94 horses currently cataloged in the Racing Age Session. Supplemental Racing Age entries will be accepted through January 25th and a separate supplemental Racing Age catalog will be available on the OBS website and in printed form at the sales grounds. The 348 horses cataloged in the Open Session will be sold Thursday, January 25th, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Finalists from the Ocala Symphony Orchestra’s 27th Annual Young Artist Competition finalists will compete with their accompanists in front of a live audience, with the winners going on to perform their concerto at the upcoming OSO concert. Admission is free.
