Born and raised in Summerfield, the Florida native grew up on a property surrounded by horse farms, and learned firsthand about nurturing land, livestock, and investing in the future of both.
“My summers were spent riding four-wheelers, fishing, helping in the garden, and tending to my parents and grandparents’ animals. My grandaddy had a business breeding and selling purebred Polled Herefords, so I grew up showing pigs, heifers, and steers,” she remembers fondly. “It was hands-on, practical stuff that I’m really glad I learned. It’s extremely valuable knowledge.”
When she graduated, she moved to the Austin/San Antonio area in Texas, where she began a career specializing in construction, beginning as a lender and then developing a formidable track record in sales and management. After ten years in Texas, she and her husband decided to return to Ocala to be closer to family in Marion County. With her experience in construction and sales, earning her Real Estate license felt like just the right change in direction for her.
“I figured it was time to dictate my own path and career, and I had always wanted to broaden my horizons and scope,” she explains. “I like being of service to people and feeling like I’m using my skills to make things better in their lives, and it felt like a good choice for me.”
When she began interviewing with brokerages and asking people for suggestions and referrals, Showcase’s name kept coming up in the conversations.
“In business, a lot of companies or agencies like to talk a big game about themselves; I certainly saw a lot of that in my career,” she says, “but with Showcase, people kept talking about them. That said a lot to me about their reputation.”
She connected with Valerie and Lee through mutual colleagues and knew almost immediately she wanted to join the company. “They were so relatable and knowledgeable, and I want to learn from people like that.”
