Angela is no stranger to equestrian farms; she has a lifetime of experience with horses and horse properties.  With two properties of her own – one in Ohio and another in Dunnellon, FL, she has an intimate understanding of what people are looking for when they want to find the ideal place.

Since she was just a 3 year-old, she’s been working around horses, growing up watching her professional jockey father at the racetrack, competing at several venues in Ohio, Michigan, and Florida – including the Hialeah racegrounds. It’s no wonder she started riding when she was a toddler and eventually competed with the Ohio University Equestrian Team.

“If I didn’t have a horse, that would not be normal,” she says. “You learn to be focused on the present, and not distracted by the things that can wait till later. I think that’s really important.”

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University and worked as a newspaper journalist in both Ohio and Florida, including a stint at the Ocala Star-Banner. She then transitioned to public service, working as a Public Information Officer for Sheriff Ed Dean. Her interest in working with children led her to become a teacher and a DCF worker.

She found her way to the real estate world through her knack for flipping properties – a creative outlet and business that she still pursues today, albeit only about once a year.  It was fun to take a home and transform it into something new.  Becoming an agent seemed like a natural progression; Angela realized it was where she wanted to be on a full-time, professional basis, and she went on to earn her Florida license. With the increasing development of the equestrian industry in Ocala, she notes that Florida clients are searching for properties in the area that have certain qualities.

They’re pretty specific with what they want – a trail nearby to ride on, a certain amount of acreage, or proximity to the World Equestrian Center, which is a big deal for a lot of them,” she explains. “A huge part of their motivations are centered around things that connect them to the industry.”

Angela chose Showcase because of its strong reputation in the equestrian community and its commitment to community relationships.  It was important to her to work with a team of people who were supportive and would give her opportunities to grow and learn new things.

“It was just a good fit for me,” she says.  “I liked that Valerie is so involved and knowledgeable about the community, and that it’s so collaborative at Showcase.  I knew I’d get the support and resources I need to be successful, because the team there is so hands-on and proactive.”

Angela lives at her Dunnellon farm with her husband, with whom she visited the area during a college Spring Break trip and they have lived for more than 20 years.  Her home is right next to the Florida Greenway, where she rides every day with her two Tennessee Walkers.
