Public High Schools

  1. Forest High School — Located in southeast Ocala, Forest High School boasts a GreatSchools rating of 7, and offers a wealth of enrichment programs. The school’s most attractive feature is its unique engineering Magnet program called EMIT, focused on science, mathematics, and technology. Dual enrollment opportunities and Air Force JROTC are also offered.
  2. West Port High School — This school in the western part of Ocala offers an impressive total of three Magnet programs: a BioMedical program, Early College program, and the Marion County Center For the Arts. It holds a GreatSchools ratings of 7, offers several enrichment programs and hosts Army JROTC.
  3. Vanguard High School — Home to the IB Magnet program, Vanguard is located in north Ocala and has a GreatSchools rating of 6. Vanguard offers a wide variety of athletics programs and participates in several academic enrichment programs.

Public Middle Schools

  1. Howard Middle School — Howard is located in the northern area of Ocala and has a GreatSchools rating of 6. It offers a technology-integration Magnet program, AAIT, and structures its classes based on IB program philosophies so that all students are exposed to a rigorous learning environment.
  2. Osceola Middle School– Osceola is centrally located in Ocala and has a GreatSchools rating of 6. Osceola offers several advanced academic classes and a gifted students program.


Private Schools

  1. Trinity Catholic High School — Trinity is a Catholic school located in central Ocala and is affiliated with Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Trinity offers advanced placement and dual enrollment opportunities, as well as a fine arts program and four foreign languages. Blessed Trinity also has a sister K-8 school.
  2. St. John Lutheran School — This central Ocala Christian school teaches grades K-12 and is affiliated with St. John Lutheran Church. It offers a rigorous academic program for all grades, a full roster of athletics, and several summer camps.
  3. Ocala Christian Academy — Located in east-central Ocala, Ocala Christian Academy is a PK-12 school with a focus on academic excellence, fine arts, and Biblical values.
  4. Montessori Preparatory School of Ocala– Established in 1996 in east-central Ocala, Montessori Preparatory School utilizes both traditional and Montessori curricula to help children pre-k to 5 learn at their own pace. Their students have tested in the top ten percent nationally.
